报告题目:Tailoring Polymeric Platforms for Diagnostics and Delivery

报告时间:2019年10月18日(周五)上午10:00

报告地点:南开大学蒙民伟楼201室

报告内容:

Polymeric materials such as polymer brushes, hydrogels and nanofibrous coatings on planar and curved interfaces that are amenable toward facile multi-functionalization with biorecognition, imaging, therapeutic and targeting agents are attractive platforms for addressing many of the challenges faced in conventional diagnostics and therapy. The talk will report our approaches toward fabrication of novel polymeric coatings, hydrogels, nanogels and nanofibers containing clickable functional groups. In particular, I will highlight the utilization of simple, yet powerful, organic transformations to tailor polymeric materials for target applications. Examples of tailoring functional interfaces either through covalent or non-covalent interactions to impart particular attributes necessary for certain applications will be highlighted.

报告人简历:

Amitav Sanyal is a Professor of Chemistry at Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, where he heads a research group working in the area of novel polymeric materials for biomedical applications such as drug delivery and diagnostics. Prof. Sanyal obtained his M.S. from The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He received his doctoral degree in the area of organic synthesis from Boston University, USA. After a postdoctoral stint at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. His research focuses on the design of novel polymeric coatings, hydrogels and nanofibers as functional platforms. Research from his group has been published as 96 peerreviewed publication, 8 book chapters and 6 national/international patents. Prof. Sanyal serves on editorial advisory board of European Polymer Journal, Bioconjugate Chemistry and Molecules. Ongoing research in the Sanyal group are currently funded through several national and European Union H2020 projects.
